Lucy and Charlotte, grew up in Norfolk, a beautiful rural county in the east of England.

Lucy studied Law and is a postgraduate from the University of Cambridge. She has worked as a University Lecturer and in consultancy.

Charlotte studied herbal medicine at the leading School of Herbal Medicine situated in the picturesque town of Tunbridge Wells. She has practiced all over the world and is a published author.

One day, their father, a conservationist architect, found for them a beautiful old collection of British decorative botanical illustrations, with which they instantly fell in love.

“We have always admired the redoubtable spirit of those botanists and illustrators of the early 20th Century and were beguiled by the charm and elegance of their drawings.”

As for our name – When Lucy’s son was little he couldn’t quite manage ‘aunty’ and so he named Charlotte ‘Atty’. Lucy’s surname is ‘Smart’ – so together we are Atty & Smart!
